We used this blue patchwork Kantha quilt from Jaipur, India to create this one of a kind tote. The quilt is a tradional handstitched design that is made by women in the town of Jaipur. Different wood block printed designs are pieced together to form a patchwork and then handstitched to a solid cotton fabric creating this amazing quilted fabric. The various different prints are so beautiful and create this amazing range of blue tones throughout the quilt. The body of the tote bag is made with the Kantha quilt while the bottom of the tote is made from solid Indigo Mud Cloth from Burkina Faso, West Africa. We utilized the original fringe detail from the blanket to create this great accent on the front of the tote. The bag is fully lined with heavy natural canvas cloth and has an interior pocket made from vintage stripe ticking cloth with a zipper closure.
The straps are made with heavy 10 oz. saddle leather and secured with copper rivets and deerskin mounts.
